Five Year Plan
This is a pivotal year at SAFE. We have
begun a five-year reorganization of our entire program. SAFE is
being divided into three sections.
First, there will be the in-house section that will focus on
facilities and staffing for our in-house program here. This will be
done in the hope that we can provide a model for other programs
across the country. This year we have relocated our program out of
inner-city Portland to a twenty acre farm across the Columbia River
in southwest Washington. We presently have nine men and thirteen
cows living on the farm. We are in the process of constructing a
4300 sq. ft. building that will house the men we work with. This
building should be completed this year.
Second, we will restructure our out-patient program. Drugs are no
longer just an inner-city problem, and most of our churches are
poorly equipped to deal with the problems they are facing in their
own communities. Our churches are also faced with the epidemic of
depression and the other emotional problems plaguing our nation.
These problems are easier dealt with in a group setting if you have
the right tools. SAFE can provide those tools to the local church.
We will re-package our out-patient program with the goal of making
it more effective and easier to begin and maintain in the local
church.
Finally, we realize that it is the materials which God has entrusted
to us that give life to the above programs. It is evident that we
need to do a lot better job of making the books and training
available to the public. We also need to develop additional
resources to assist people God has called to help others on
their ‘journey to freedom’. With this in mind, we have set up
Treasures Publishing House to handle the developing of additional
materials, as well as the distribution of all our materials. Stay
tuned for some exciting developments in this area. |
